Getting Started

My name is Juan C. Tiscareno, I'm 28 years old and I'm happily married to beautiful Diana Ivonne and we have a precious little baby, Luca (7 months old). We live in New Mexico and I work for the Government, Diana stays at home for now taking care of our little guy. I have recently realized that I need to do something to start saving for our future, and found out that in order to start planning for the future, I need to take care of my past (using credit for almost everything, thinking that I would be able to pay it off soon, which obviously I didn't), so I need to tackle that big hurdled before I start saving to provide the best for my family. I have started reading, browsing, and getting acquainted with different ideologies used by different people for getting out of debt. I have a decent job, a great family that supports me, and the determination to get on track towards future success (financial and spiritual); so what should I do next.
I have acknowledged that I've been spending more than I make (if this wasn't true I wouldn't have any debt other than our house) and that needed to stop. We just started figuring out where money goes and how to keep it with us as long and as much as we can, so that has been taken care of. But if you want to succeed in life (overall) you need to have something that motivates you and the support to go through the hard times and the sacrifice needed to change your habits (the bad ones at least). I have started to put life into perspective and I know that I don't want to be in debt all my life, so that would be a good motivator since I want to provide for my family, what better way to do so than by not having to send Citibank, Chase, Bank of America, Best Buy, a big chunk of my paycheck.
I know most of us have thought, I will always have to make payments either for a car, credit cards, house, etc. But imagine a life in which you would actually got to keep your paycheck for yourself and your family, it sure sounds like a dream, but I want it to be true for me and my family.
I'm just getting started on my road to success...!
